Great Gatsby Girls

I sent 9 postcard sized paintings of roaring '20s style girls for the bash at Ella Sharp. It was a fund raiser for the museum.  They had a petite painting sale. Here's a sampling, these images show the raw edges which were covered by the frame:

eternal trees

More 4 x 6 paintings for sale.
These look awesome when displayed in an array. I have 12 available. The painting itself is postcard size. You can purchase an original work of art for the price of a nice dinner out! These are $20 each!

in progress

This is the diptych I have been working on forever! I'm getting pretty close to being done- Last night I worked the leaves some more- I added a couple detail views. I'm really liking the maple leaves. The tree needs more detail, and the sky color needs to be brought up some more... I can't wait to work more on it!

Ann Arbor Summer Art Fair '10

We're back from A2 Fair!  It was busy and exhausting.  The weather was hot and rainy.  We even had tornado warnings!  Fortunately none of my work was damaged...  all in all it was an enjoyable experience.  I met some great people, saw some wonderful old friends, had some of my art students stop by to see me, and I had some time with my family!  I'm thankful.

Thanks, as always, to my wonderful family for making this work!  Jamie, Cara, and Mary who are with me in this.  and my Jena even drove 7 hours to be here!

The next big adventure is Art Prize in September.  I can't wait!

Art Prize

The matching window for Artists and Venues is now closed, and I have connected with O'Tooles!  I'm proud to be exhibiting at an Irish Pub. I love the idea of displaying a painting of farmland with wheat in the foreground at a restaurant- the field to table journey is an intricate one.  There are so many steps and so many people involved along the way.  Food is not only important to survival, but it is integral to the social structure of every culture.  I'm lucky to live where I am surrounded by beautiful farmland.  Just yesterday they were baling hay in my backyard!  Farmers work endless hours in the summer.  The other night we got home about 11 pm and a tractor was cutting the hay on the dark, we could see the headlights glowing up and down the rows...

Art and Flowers- with Cara, Mary, and Grandma!

Thanks to all who came by to see us at Art and Flowers. We had a great day together. Really enjoyed doing a hometown event and seeing so many of our friends! Thanks to Joan Larsen for organizing the event, and to Van Thorre's Greenhouse for such a beautiful location.

Cara, me, Grandma

Me, Cara, Mary - Grandpa sitting in the background.

Mary and I in the booth.  It took a little longer to set up than it should have. The ground was soft, so we had to put little blocks of wood under the legs. Every time we would get one block in place another would come out! Pam and her family came by and helped us... thanks Pam and fam!
